On OS 10.6.8 with DP 7.24, I'm already finding VI's and plugins I can't buy because they want a later OS. (If you're interested, I have one in my old mac that's no longer being used.)
You might be able to install the earlier pre-PCIe UAD card. Will you be satisfied with the stock motu plugins? It's really hard to buy legacy plugins these days. Hard drives have a lifespan, just like lightbulbs, but less predictable.
Is it a noisy machine? When I got my G5 quadcore intel xeon with os 10.6 probably 5 (?) years ago, I was amazed at how quiet it was compared to my previous mac.ĭo you have backup hard drives for your projects, and for audio, so you're not recording audio onto the system drive? If the hard drive in that machine is stock, it's 14 years old.
